Picking the right support for your group
Some teams only need help getting everyone registered and waivers sorted, while others need full race day coordination from the first captain message through to the recovery area. The right option depends on how many people are entering, where they are travelling from, and how much hand-holding the group needs before the start horn. Our corporate entry work is suited to teams from Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein, as well as smaller groups driving in from Hartbeespoort, Krugersdorp, Rustenburg and Potchefstroom.
For office teams, schools, sports clubs and social groups, the aim is to keep the process clear and calm. That means fewer last minute questions, better race day flow, and a cleaner experience for the captain or organiser who is often juggling a lot already.
What the team entry process usually covers
Every group is a bit different, but the practical steps often cover the same ground. We help with entry planning, waiver coordination, safety briefing groups and heat allocation support. If the team needs a custom briefing, that can be set up so everyone hears the same instructions before the race starts. For larger groups, captain communication helps the organiser know what is happening without chasing five different updates.
- Corporate Entry Planning for office teams and client groups
- Team Registration Help for mixed ability entries
- Waiver Coordination so forms are in order before race day
- Heat Allocation Support where groups need to run together or close together
- Onsite Team Checkin for a cleaner arrival process
Training, readiness and the hard parts of the course
Obstacle course races ask for running fitness, grip strength, balance and the ability to keep moving after a climb, crawl or carry. Our Training Content Coordinator, Tshepo Khumalo, focuses on practical guidance that helps groups prepare without overcomplicating things. That may include warmup structure, pacing tips, and what to expect from a course that can change with weather, mud and terrain.
Anyone planning to take part in hard exercise should check with a doctor first, especially if they have not trained for a while or have a medical concern. We do not give personal medical advice, but we do encourage sensible preparation, enough sleep and proper hydration before race day. In Magaliesberg, warm days and cooler early starts can affect how a team performs, so it helps to plan for both.
- Bring trail shoes or trainers with grip
- Carry water, a towel and a change of clothes
- Use gloves if your team prefers extra hand protection
- Arrive early enough for briefing and warmup
Safety briefings that keep the day steady
Bianca Khoza, our Safety and Briefing Officer, helps make sure the important instructions are shared clearly before teams head out. That includes how to approach obstacles, how to pass other participants safely, and what to do if someone needs support on course. The briefing is not there to make the event feel formal, it is there so people know where to go and what to expect when the pace picks up.
We also factor in local conditions. For participants travelling from town or from further afield, knowing the start process and checkin route reduces avoidable stress.
Groups, captains and the people who keep things moving
Some teams arrive as one office block, others are a mix of departments, friends and family. Lerato Zondo handles operations, while Carmen Botha supports corporate entries where a workplace wants a smoother process for several staff members. If a captain needs help relaying information to the group, we can keep that communication tight and organised so the organiser is not left carrying the load alone. There is also support for supporters who want to watch, photograph or meet the team at the finish.
- Custom Team Briefing for mixed fitness levels
- Supporter Planning for family members and colleagues on site
- Team Photo Moments after the final obstacle
- Recovery Area Guidance for cooling down and regrouping
Group Race Support Hub
Groups can take on the race without the admin pile-up. Registration help, onsite check-in and guidance on the recovery area keep the day organised before and during the event. Johan du Plessis leads course build work, which matters because teams need a race that is challenging but still well managed. Ayanda Nxumalo supports participants who need clear direction on race day and practical answers when plans change.
If your group is travelling to Hekpoort, Magaliesburg or the wider North West area, the key is to choose the level of support that fits your people, your timing and your travel. A smaller team may only need one or two services, while a larger company outing may need the full setup from waiver handling to heat allocations and captain updates.
