Careers

Punisher runs obstacle course races and endurance challenges from Hekpoort in the Magaliesberg, serving teams and participants from across South Africa. We hire practical people who can work outdoors, stay calm under pressure and handle event day duties with care.

Where the work starts before sunrise

Our team works across the Hekpoort and Magaliesburg area, with event support reaching Johannesburg, Pretoria, Rustenburg, Potchefstroom, Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein travellers. The job is not just race day, it also includes preparation, checks, set up, pack down and helping participants move through the day safely.

We look for people who can handle early starts, dusty tracks, cold mornings in winter and strong sun later in the day. On some days the weather changes quickly in the Magaliesberg and everyone must keep their head and carry out instructions properly.

Roles we usually hire for

Our crew is made up of people with different strengths. Some work with teams at registration, some manage course sections and others focus on participant support or briefing rooms. We also need people who can help with planning for corporate entries and group arrivals.

  • Course build and pack down support
  • Participant check in and heat allocation
  • Safety briefing and waiver coordination
  • Training content and group warmup support
  • Corporate entry planning and captain communication
  • Recovery area guidance and supporter direction

What good work looks like on event day

We value people who arrive ready, follow the run sheet and communicate clearly. That means speaking up when a participant needs help, keeping queues moving and making sure the basics are done right the first time. It also means watching for loose kit, uneven ground and weather changes that can affect the course.

If you can work as part of a team and still notice the small details, you will fit in well.

  • Clear, respectful communication
  • Good timekeeping and reliable transport
  • Comfort working outdoors for long periods
  • Respect for safety rules and participant privacy

Safety first, even when the pace is fast

Our obstacle races and endurance challenges involve climbing, crawling, carrying and running over changing terrain. Any person applying for a role must understand that safety briefings, waivers and participant guidance are part of the job, not extra admin.

We expect team members to follow instructions exactly during drills and event checks. If a section is closed because of wind, mud or another issue, it stays closed until the right person clears it. We do not take shortcuts with safety, and we expect the same from every person on site.

People who fit our training and support style

We need people who can explain things in plain language. That includes helping participants understand what to bring, where to queue and how the day will run. It also includes calm support for first timers and corporate groups who may be nervous about the course.

  • Training content coordination
  • Custom team briefing support
  • Onsite team check in
  • Supporter planning and recovery area guidance
  • Team photo moments and post race flow

If you have worked in events, sport, outdoor activities or logistics, that experience is useful. If not, strong work habits and a willingness to learn can still count for a lot.

How to send your CV our way

To apply, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and mention the kind of role you are interested in. You can also note your area, such as Hekpoort, Hartbeespoort, Krugersdorp, Pretoria or Johannesburg if travel is involved.

We review suitable applications for operational support, race logistics, participant services and corporate entry work. If your experience matches what we need, a member of the team will respond with the next step. Please do not send personal medical details, just the basics we need to assess fit for the role.
